Uhud is a majestic mountain beloved by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said, "Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it." At its base, the historic Battle of Uhud took place, where seventy companions, including the Prophet’s uncle Hamza ibn Abdulmuttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), were martyred. The Prophet often used Uhud to illustrate greatness, saying even gold equal in weight to Uhud could not match the value of what his companions gave. Stretching 7 km in length and up to 1,077 m high, the mountain features colorful rocks—red granite, dark green, and black—and contains caves and crevices that collect rainwater.
